Make the problem shared.
Align design, product, and engineering around a clear problem, a useful direction, and the decisions that matter.
ABOUT / THE PERSON BEHIND THE PIXELS
I’m Matthew Weprin—a design leader, founder, and educator who likes ambitious problems, thoughtful teams, and the moment something complicated starts to make sense.

I’ve led teams at Workday, VMware, CVS Health / Aetna, Cisco, and SAP, with earlier platform, design-system, and security work at GE, Oracle, IBM, and HP.
That range has shaped how I work: frame the problem clearly, bring people into the decisions, and stay involved enough in the details to help the team move forward.
Building independent products keeps me connected to the whole experience. Teaching keeps me questioning my assumptions. Both make me a better design leader.
Based in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Open and eager to relocate for the right team.
Align design, product, and engineering around a clear problem, a useful direction, and the decisions that matter.
Coach designers and managers to own their work. Teaching at Northwestern and mentoring hundreds of designers keeps that practice sharp.
Work through information architecture, critique, prototypes, and implementation. Use AI to make ideas tangible sooner.
AI IN THE PRODUCT. AI IN THE PROCESS.
At Workday, my teams work on AI Consumption, Deployment Agent, and Agent Analytics—experiences that help connect AI capabilities with enterprise user and administrator needs.
My teams and I also use Figma AI, Shuffle, Cursor, and Lovable for exploration and prototyping. Making an idea tangible helps us evaluate it together and ask better questions earlier.
TEACHING & MENTORSHIP
2025 — PRESENT
Adjunct Professor, Segal Design Institute. Teaching human-centered design, research, ideation, and iterative prototyping.
2019 — 2024
UX educator and mentor to hundreds of designers through project reviews, portfolios, and interview preparation. Most Requested Mentor in 2021 and 2022.
2014 — 2016
User Experience Design Instructor, helping designers build practical skills and a thoughtful approach to their work.
HOW I SUPPORT DESIGN QUALITY
My leadership practice includes clear objectives, design clinics, critiques, reviews, and regular sharing. Each creates a different opportunity to work through a problem and improve the result.
Use objectives to connect design work to priorities. Give designers a place to bring work in progress, ask for help, and explore alternatives before decisions become expensive to change.
Build feedback into everyday work. Use critique to sharpen the reasoning, reviews to align decisions, and shared work to help the team learn from one another. Coach people to take ownership as their judgment grows.
